Glass facades

Day by day glass is becoming more important in a modern architecture. It is a material that can replace so-far used materials , such as bricks, blocks, etc.. Glass characteristics ensure complete thermal insulation , acoustic , solar, UV protection, allowing us to face complete buildings by glasses-glass facades.
An adequate choice of modern qualitative glasses if directed towards accomplishing desired results (light transfer, K-value, solar factor) in the building itself and outer appearance of the building (external reflection, color of the building, etc..).
Following factors are to be taken into consideration when deciding which color of the facade, profile and glass  to choose: 
· purpose of the building, geographical position of the building, an average wind speed in that area, static calculation on capacity of the construction, dilatation of the building under working conditions, annual declination of the building-all in order to perform a proper installation of profiles and glasses. If calculation of façade was not fully followed, this will result in cracking, i.e. splitting of glass and construction.

· Outer light penetration,

· Outer reflection,

· Solar factor,

· K-value (heat transfer coefficient),

Structural facade

Structural facades are facade systems without visible capacity aluminum profiles. The facade is applied by gluing glass onto aluminum profiles.

These way applied glass facades are of modern and attractive appearance.

Outer side is visually completely in glass, without visible aluminum profiles. Opening fields are not different from other facade parts and mostly can be opened towards outward.

Semi-structural facade
Semi-structural façades have visible aluminum profiles, but with minimum width, by edges of the elements creating semi -structural facade. A reflecting insulation-glass is used for accomplishing glass-effect.

Continuous glass facade

Continuous glass facades are facade system with visible aluminum profiles, following aluminum raster allowing possibility of making of various outer profile, with special emphasis to horizontal and vertical corners. The fields within façade can be of opening character-reversing, opening towards outward, etc..


Spyder facades are specific because of the way of joining glass and construction. Glass, either one-layer or IZO glass, is to be joined to the construction by special INOX mounts. Those mounts hold glass at four points, without additional horizontal or vertical profiles at the outer part of façade (IZO glass will be joined mutually via edges, by special razor to ensure continuous heat transfer), providing glass chimer appearance of the facade.  All facade constructions on the outer side of building must have thermal switch off, but the constructions in the building do not have to have it.

Regarding adherence of glass facades, we must point out that the goal is not to prevent licking of water from outside into the construction, but to carry the water, that already got into the construction, through the construction and out. That is the condenser that eventually may appear due to great difference in temperature besides the cold bridge switch off.
